BetterApply ("we", "us") helps you score, tailor, and track job applications. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We designed BetterApply around a simple principle: your data is yours.
1. Information we collect
- Account data — name, email, and authentication credentials you provide when signing up.
- Resume and application content — resumes, cover letters, job descriptions, and notes you upload or paste.
- Usage data — pages visited, features used, and aggregated performance metrics used to improve the product.
- Device data — browser type, operating system, and IP address for security and analytics.
2. How we use your information
- To deliver core features: fit scoring, tailoring, tracking, and prep.
- To improve model quality only on data you explicitly opt in to share.
- To send transactional emails (receipts, password resets, reminders).
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not auto-apply to jobs on your behalf without your review.
- We do not share your resume with recruiters or third parties without your action.
4. AI processing
When you request a fit score, tailored bullet, or interview prep, your content may be sent to AI providers we use to generate the output. These providers process the content under contractual obligations not to use it for their own model training. AI outputs always require your review before being shared externally.
5. Data retention
We retain your data while your account is active. You can export or delete your data at any time from account settings. Deletion is permanent and applied across our active systems within 30 days.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us at contact@betterapply.com to exercise these rights.
7. Security
We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest, scoped access controls, and regular reviews of our security posture. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your trust as non-negotiable.
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and a small set of analytics cookies to understand product usage. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser without losing core functionality.
9. Children
BetterApply is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice before they take effect.
